She says: “I am proud to have been nominated for this prestigious award. It means far more that that it has come from people who have worked for, and alongside, me who wanted to recognise the support and development I offer them so they can progress both personally and professionally.

“As a leader you are only as good as the team around you, so investing time in developing them is integral to ensuring a business can grow and attract and retain the right people for our values and ethos.”

Women in Logistics was established in 2008 to support the careers of women already working in the logistics industry and help promote the sector. The awards have three categories covering the year's most inspirational Leader, Young Woman and Diversity Champion and one overall winning company.

After creation of the original ‘long-list’ Judging was led by professor of supply chain strategy at Cranfield School of Management, Richard Wilding who had the task of selecting a shortlist, and an overall winner, in each category.

Vice chair of Women in Logistics, Melanie Longman, says: "It has been our pleasure to be able to hear from women working in the logistics industry about contributions of their own and their peers to progressing our important vision. There is plenty of enthusiasm and action in the name of diversity and it will be an honour to celebrate those achievements at our prize-giving ceremony."

The awards and charity ball will support of Transaid, which tackles poverty and disadvantage by building transport skills and knowledge to the developing world.
