Exporting to Africa – important regulatory changes for exporters to Gabon, Ivory Coast, Kenya and Nigeria
21 March 2018
Gabon
Exporters/Importers trading with Gabon need to comply with the requirements of the Gabon Goverment’s office, Agence Gabonaise de Normalisation (AGANOR) Conformity Assessment Programme called PROGEC which has been implemented to assure Gabon’s consumers of the quality and safety of imported goods.
The programme in Gabon will be fully enforced from 31st March 2018 and goods will not clear customs without the mandatory Certificate of Conformity which Intertek can issue.
Ivory Coast - New Programme
The Government of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) has introduced a Conformity Assessment Programme called "Verification of Conformity" for all exports to the country which commences 16th April 2018 (B/L Date).
Exporters/Importers trading with the Ivory Coast will need to comply with the requirements of the Verification of Conformity Programme in order for their goods to clear Customs.
Intertek has been awarded a contract by the Government of the Ivory Coast as one of the service providers authorised to carry out this Verification of Conformity and issue the mandatory Certificates of Conformity.
Kenya/Nigeria
Intertek has recently renewed its conformity assessment contracts with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to continue to support both the Kenya Pre-Export Verification of Conformity Programme (Kenya PVoC) and the Nigeria SONCAP programme. Intertek has been approved by both organisations to issue the mandatory Certificates of Conformity in order for exports to clear Customs.
