UKTI event to help Yorkshire’s e-Tailers cash-in on online boom

26 October 2014

A major Export Week event to help boost Yorkshire and Humber’s online exporting is being held by UKTI.

The half-day event – e-Exporting and the Retail Sector - is being held at the Everyman Cinema, Albion Street, Leeds, between 8:30am and 2pm on November 14th and is open to businesses throughout the region.

UKTI says that it believes there is a bright future for the region’s export of consumer goods which are currently the fastest-growing online sector.

An e-marketplace is an online location which provides a platform for companies of all sizes – and individuals – to sell by using e-commerce. The best-known e-market places are Amazon, Tmall and eBay.

UKTI says: “We have identified more than 400 of these prosperous sales mediums worldwide which can be accessed by UK businesses and help them to reap a sizeable share of the £60bn which online retail exports are expected to generate by 2018.

“Whether you are considering developing your own online store, or wish to have your products included in others hosted across the globe, you will be able to leave this event with new ideas and a better understanding of how to make your online sales a big success.”

The event will feature a series of talks and presentations from British Embassies in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Hong Kong, the Dominican Republic, Italy, Mexico and San Jose.

Other talks will include “How does a strong social media presence fit in with an effective e-commerce strategy”; “IP and Franchising” and “Issues Surround VAT and how it effects e-Exporting.”
