UK Firms Explore New Gulf Opportunities on Chamber Mission

10 November 2025

West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and its international trade division, Chamber International, have begun leading a high-profile delegation of business leaders from across the region on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, led by James Mason, CEO at the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, and Nikki Clow, Head of International Trade.

The six-day mission will visit Jeddah, Riyadh and Manama, providing UK companies with the opportunity to build lasting trade partnerships and explore export potential in two rapidly developing Gulf markets.

The mission follows growing interest from Chamber members eager to expand into Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, both of which were identified as priority markets. Firms participating represent sectors including technology, education, professional services, and manufacturing.

Leeds Bradford Airport has joined as headline sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to expanding the region’s global connectivity. Delegates will attend meetings with Saudi Airlines, the British Embassy in Riyadh, the Saudi Ministry of Investment, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board.

This initiative builds on previous successful trade missions to the United Arab Emirates and the United States, with further international visits planned for 2026.

James Mason, Chief Executive of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“At a time when the cost of doing business is so high, it is more important than ever to explore new avenues for doing business.

We asked our members where they would like to see a trade mission arranged for and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain were a clear standout.

We look forward to welcoming all of our delegates and are grateful to Leeds Bradford Airport for signing up as lead sponsor as it seeks to increase the number of routes it serves globally.”

Nikki Clow, Head of International Trade at Chamber International, added:
“We’re proud to be leading this mission alongside our colleagues and partners, helping UK businesses strengthen their international presence.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are two of the most dynamic economies in the Gulf, and we want to ensure that our firms are front and centre as new opportunities emerge.

Chamber International’s role is to make international trade achievable and sustainable — giving companies the insights, connections and confidence they need to thrive abroad.

Through this mission, we’re helping businesses open doors, build relationships and turn ambition into real export success.”

The mission highlights the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to helping UK firms compete and grow in international markets through hands-on support, expertise and practical trade facilitation.
