Service sector exports boost local economy, Chamber survey shows

5 July 2013

Good growth in the number of service sector exporters reporting better overseas sales has been confirmed by the Leeds, York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce Q2 2013 economic survey.

A significant 41% of the Chamber’s exporting service companies saw overseas sales improved in the survey compiled by the ONS.

A theme of Chamber International’s next We Are International Export Network event is how to sell services overseas. It will focus on how some businesses are using the Internet and their websites  instead of traditional, more expensive exporting routes.

Chamber International, International Trade Director, Tim Bailey, says: “The latest export data is great news for the local economy. However, we still need to see far more companies investigating overseas markets and this month’s event is part of our service to help them achieve this.’”

The event is at 4pm on July 17 at Deloitte LLP, City Square, Leeds. To book please telephone: 0845 034 7200.
