Saudi Arabia tightens import requirements

Strict requirements have been implemented in Saudi Arabia for imports of:

  • Toys
  • Electrical and electronic products
  • Cosmetics and perfumes
  • Vehicles and spare parts

Goods falling within this categories must undergo laboratory testing be inspected before shipment and issued with a Certificate of Conformity.

Successful test reports along with export invoices, inspection reports and Certificates of Conformity should be made available electronically to the Saudi Customs. A hardcopy of the Certificate of Conformity should be submitted to Customs for import clearance.

Imports that cannot be tested locally in Saudi Arabia and/or are not accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity will be returned to the UK.

The Saudi Arabian authorities have indicated that these requirements may be extended to include other product categories in the future.
