Pilot scheme works for former Pace man

Orbis HR is leading the way in a pioneering pilot scheme with Bradford College students. After leaving his role as HR Director at Pace, Ian Mcaleese was keen to get his new business idea off the ground; helping UK companies employ staff overseas. As a new start-up, Orbis HR needed the skills and knowledge of finance, marketing, admin and IT teams but didn’t have the necessary resources to fund these roles. Thanks to collaboration with the college however, Ian now has a complete team of eight students working full-time on his business for a period of 10 weeks and one student in one day a week for 50 weeks. The students are fully supported by the college who not only provided each one with IT equipment but also provided a ‘home’ for the business opposite the main campus building. Ian said: “This is a really exciting time for all of us. Not only are the students receiving genuine work experience but the business also benefits from the fresh ideas, energy, enthusiasm and newfound knowledge of the students. |
