New Leeds City Region China Business Club launched

The Leeds City Region China Business Club is an organisation dedicated to the exchange of ideas, experience and advice with those businesses wanting to make an impact with Chinese firms at home and overseas.

“The China Business Club” is a platform for the exchange of ideas, experience and expertise with regards to doing business with China. The China Club brings together all of the knowledge of China that resides in Leeds City Region and supports those firms dealing with China; be this for first timers who want to export or firms with long-term establishments in China and firms that seek to work with Chinese companies in Europe.

“The Leeds City Region China Business Club” Main Objectives:

  • Centralise China based business activity across Leeds City Region
  • Allow companies that either have an existing presence in China or are looking to develop business in China to share contacts, experiences and understanding
  • Create opportunities for companies that seek to work with Chinese firms in Europe by sharing experiences and deal interests
  • Act as a central point of contact for Chinese investor enquiries. Providing a platform to effectively and seamlessly manage their enquiry and engage the most appropriate organisations and businesses in order to fully support them
  • Promote inbound and outbound delegations and China related business activities, allowing businesses throughout the region an opportunity to engage

To this end, regular events are organised to bring businesses together. These events focus on practical issues and concerns (e.g., dealing with Chinese culture, changes in tax law, or expectations of Chinese investors), discuss economic developments in different regions and upcoming business opportunities, or on how to attract Chinese firms to Leeds City Region.

Bringing the expertise and China knowledge that already resides in the Leeds City Region together will give us a stronger and more visible China interest in Leeds, which should make it easier to bring incoming Chinese missions to the region, thus helping firms in creating commercial links with China. The Club is also be a good information sharing platform about the different services that are available (e.g. translation, language, law, IT).

Setting the region apart, Chinese organisations will make up half of the advisory panel, which will enable greater linkages with China through panel members who are able to provide valuable insights into trade and investment opportunities. In addition the Xiamen Chamber of International Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong will join UKTI, China-Britain Business Council, Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds and Leeds and Partners as the founding members of the Club, who will jointly coordinate and implement the activities of the Club.
