New alliance adds sparkle to The Proton Group’s US sales
6 February 2015
An agreement to supply its innovative beverage cleaning products through a US business has been made by Normanton-based The Proton Group.
Two glass cleaning products and one beer line cleaner have been supplied by The Proton Group to food and beverage equipment cleaning company, National Chemicals Inc, Winona, for distribution to its own customers
The three products are Quash, a patented product which removes lipstick and grease from glasses; Renovate, which restores glassware to its original bright condition and allows draft beer to nucleate, and Prosan Ultra, a beer line cleaner.
The Proton Group managing director, Murray Angus, a We are International initiative export network ambassador, says: “National Chemicals Inc contacted us after discovering our innovative products through positive feedback from an international brewery group and our first consignment of products was sent to the company during January.
“About eight years ago we established a similar trading relationship with another US company, Banner Equipment Company, Illinois, which supplies some of our products to its local customer base.
“We are very excited by this new relationship with National Chemicals, especially as they approached us after recognising the special nature of our products as it gives us another important local foothold in the large US market.”
The Proton Group, which started exporting in 2002 through a distributor in the Republic of Ireland, is also exhibiting at pub industry trade exhibition, PUB15, Olympia, this month (February 18-19) which attracts visitors from overseas and may lead to more export sales.
Murray Angus, who became managing director of The Proton Group in 1996, says: “We already export various products to Poland, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Gibraltar and Malta.
“Our turnover is now £4m. Our aim is to continue our growth, of which 50 per cent is planned to be export sales in the next three-to-five years. Our sales director, Dominic Williams, is currently focusing on Europe as part of our core strategy to gain more business there.”
The Proton Group, which was founded in 1971, currently has about 26 staff and specialises in the supply of high-technology, cost-effective and innovative cleaning and disinfection products for a wide range of end uses in sectors including food and beverage, hospitality and animal healthcare.
