Kuwait to hold Agro Food Expo in April

5 February 2020

São Paulo – Kuwait International Agro Food Expo (KIAFE) will have its third edition in April 1-2 in Kuwait City. KIAFE is an opportunity to export food and agriculture products to Kuwait, a country dependent on imports in this sector. The exhibition can be a gateway for meeting buyers, importers, agents, wholesalers and decisionmakers from the corporate and government institutions. Registrations are open for exhibitors and visitors. Brazil’s ambassador in Kuwait, Norton Rapesta, will be in the opening ceremony.

The expo aims to increase food security in the country and attract buyers looking to source the latest products and innovative solutions. The event is ideal for manufacturers and exporters specializing in agribusiness – including farming, poultry and dairy – and food products – including raw, processed, packed and processing technology, hospitality and catering, and food security.

The agriculture and food industries play an important role in diversifying Kuwait’s economy. The food industry has received a large share of investment in the country over the last years. The 2015-2020 Kuwait Development Plan (KDP) establishes a strategy that includes a heavy emphasis on the development of the private sector. The goal is increasing the non-oil sector’s share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The 2019 KIAFE (pictured) featured over 50 national and foreign companies from countries such as India, United States, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Malaysia, Hungary, Egypt, and Oman.

The event is organized by the country’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition and supported by the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research, Trade Promotion Council of India, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of India in Kuwait.
