Important news for exporters to the USA

Importer Security Filing (ISF) to be more strictly enforced from 9 July  2013

Since that initial ISF implementation in January 2009, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have been taking a, “phased in softly softly” approach but from July 9 2013 CBP will be much stricter in their enforcement of ISF requirements. 

Ultimately the final responsibility for ISF compliance rests with the Importer of Record and any penalties or fines would be laid at their door. To prevent this, Exporters, Forwarding Agents, Shipping Lines, Customs Brokers and the Importer should all work together to ensure the correct information is provided and submitted in advance.
