How to Comply with mandatory Botswana Standards Regulations (SCSR)

21 August 2024

Exports to Botswana must comply with the requirements of the Botswana Standards (Compulsory Standards) Regulations (SCSR) in order for goods to clear Botswana Customs. Intertek has been accredited by the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) to issue the mandatory Conformity Certificates.

BOBS has implemented the Botswana Standards (Compulsory Standards) Regulations (SCSR), formerly known as Standards (Import Inspection) Regulations (SIIR) to ensure the quality and safety of imported goods to Botswana consumers and also to facilitate trade.

"Regulated Products" exported to Botswana that are within the programme require a Conformity Certificate (Product Certificate (PC)  or Certificate of Conformity (CoC)) which verifies, that the products comply with the applicable Botswana technical regulations and mandatory standards or approved equivalent International/National Standards.)

BOBS has granted Intertek accreditation to issue the Conformity Certificates for products regulated within the provisions of the SCSR.
