Chamber International Welcomes Business Administration Apprentice

27 November 2024

Chamber International is proud to welcome a new member to the team - Ezra Gallagher (pictured below).  Ezra completed his A-levels this summer at Ermysted’s Grammar School in Skipton, and is now doing a fifteen-month business administration apprenticeship at CI’s head office in Bradford.

Ezra’s professional mentor is CI’s trade procedures manager Sam Paley.  Sam is responsible for coordinating the on-the-job training for Ezra, and ensuring his continued professional development. The apprenticeship is overseen by VQ Solutions.

This arrangement enables Ezra to undertake lots of training in the practical aspects of international trade, as well as more general learning for working in a business administration role.

Thanks to CI, he is already working towards becoming a British Chambers of Commerce authorised signatory for certification procedures and export documents, and is now booked onto the final assessment course, to take place in March 2025.

Sam said, “Ezra is making good progress and gaining lots of practical experience too.  It’s a pleasure to have him as part of our team”.

Having studied German, Geography and Economics at A-level, Ezra was looking forward to working in an international business environment – but life in the CI office has been even more international than he expected.  Not only does CI enable businesses to trade effectively and profitably with suppliers and customers all over the world, he also works alongside experienced team members from Brazil, Colombia, the Netherlands and Romania.

“Working here is much more varied than I expected” he said, “and it was a surprise to discover how big the Chamber of Commerce is.  It’s hard work, because the office is so busy, but I like that there are new things happening every day.”
