Chamber International Supports Launch of China & Hong Kong Trade Mission

20 April 2026

The Chamber’s latest trade mission to China and Hong Kong gets underway today, bringing together its largest international delegation to date for a week of high-level meetings, relationship building and market insight across Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

The destinations were selected following recommendations from Chamber members, and the visit builds on the success of previous missions to the United States, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, reflecting continued demand from businesses to explore global opportunities.

At the heart of the mission is the delegation itself, made up of businesses from a wide range of sectors, all looking to strengthen international connections and unlock new opportunities in one of the world’s most significant trading regions. Delegates taking part include European Cargo, Autohorn, Sound Leisure, Tudor International, RJJ Software, Richmond International Academic & Soccer Academy, China Marketing Corp, Jolene and QL Consulting.

The mission is also supported by key sponsors, with BYD and Teesside Airport confirmed as Gold Sponsors. BYD said it was proud to host the trade mission and welcomed the opportunity to strengthen links with local business and government while showcasing the value of its technology and expertise.

As the international division of the Chamber, we are supporting delegates with preparation and practical guidance to help them engage with partners and opportunities throughout the mission.

Over the course of the visit, the Chamber will host meetings with the British Consulate General Guangzhou, the British Chamber of Commerce South China, Yantian Port, the China-Britain Business Council, HSBC and the British Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong, alongside the Consulate General of Hong Kong, among many others. The programme has been designed to give delegates direct access to influential organisations, valuable in-market insight and opportunities to build meaningful, long-term partnerships.

With total trade between the UK and China worth £102.3 billion last year, and China remaining the UK’s fifth largest trading partner, the mission reflects the continuing importance of international engagement for businesses looking to grow and compete globally.

The delegation represents a diverse range of sectors, including advanced manufacturing, automotive, software, education and professional services—all areas where China and Hong Kong offer strong commercial potential. Cities such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou are globally recognised centres for manufacturing, innovation and technology, creating opportunities for businesses involved in engineering, digital solutions and supply chain collaboration.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s role as an international financial and professional services hub provides a strategic gateway into wider Asian markets, offering access to investment, regional headquarters and specialist expertise. For organisations in education and training, there are also growing opportunities for international partnerships and knowledge exchange.

By bringing together sector expertise with a structured programme of meetings and visits, the mission is designed to help delegates identify tangible opportunities, build trusted relationships and better understand how to position themselves successfully in these dynamic markets.

Nikki Clow, Head of International at Chamber International, said:

“China and Hong Kong remain key markets for UK businesses, and this mission provides an important platform for building meaningful international relationships. We are proud to support the delegation as it begins its visit today.

From established exporters to companies developing new international partnerships, these missions provide valuable access, insight and connections that can help turn ambition into real commercial opportunity.”

This trade mission highlights the strength and ambition of the region’s business community, supported by committed sponsors and a strong international network. We are delighted to support the delegation as the programme gets underway and looks forward to seeing the partnerships and opportunities that develop over the coming days.
