Chamber International in UK First for Customs Compliance

Chamber International has passed a new rigorous audit process for the Chamber Customs service, becoming one of the very first providers in the UK to achieve this.

Chamber Customs is the customs declarations service from British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), launched to coincide with the increase in demand for customs services following Brexit.

Experienced customs specialists from BCC carried out the audit, which is designed to ensure the very highest standards of compliance with HMRC’s national regulations.

Lead Customs Broker, Ehtsham Razaq (pictured right), assisted the auditors as they scrutinised dozens of import and export declarations made by Chamber International on behalf of client businesses. 

In her official report, the auditor said, “I feel that this may have been quite an intense audit and the period for preparation shorter than would be normal, due to this being a pilot audit.  Even under these circumstances the audit was met with positivity, and I was impressed by the information provided in response to my enquiries.”

BCC chose Chamber International from 53 accredited UK chambers to take part in this pilot, and help develop an audit framework for the Chamber Customs network.
