Discover new opportunities across the United States
The United States remains one of the world's largest and most dynamic export and investment markets. While many businesses focus on federal opportunities, individual US states are investing billions of dollars in economic development and are increasingly seeking international partners in sectors where the UK has world-leading expertise.
Join this practical workshop, organised by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and HSBC, to explore the opportunities being created through the UK's growing partnerships with eleven fast-growing US states.
The session will provide an overview of DBT's Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with participating states and explain how these partnerships are helping UK businesses engage with senior policymakers, business leaders and industry experts across the United States.
The workshop will cover:
-
DBT's partnerships with eleven US states and how the MOUs work.
-
US state priorities and how they align with UK strengths.
-
Trade missions, policy activity and opportunities for business engagement.
-
State-level procurement opportunities—an estimated US$1 trillion market where UK businesses remain underrepresented.
DBT would also like to hear from businesses about:
-
Barriers to trading with individual US states, particularly state-level rules or processes.
-
The type of engagement or support that would be most beneficial.
-
Upcoming US-related projects or opportunities where DBT may be able to assist.
This interactive workshop is an opportunity to gain practical insight into US state-level trade and investment opportunities while helping shape future UK engagement with the United States.
