West Yorkshire Business Boost

Masterclass: CPTPP and Latin America

4 December 2024

Delivered by West Yorkshire Business Boost

Overview

Latin America, comprising 700 million people across 20+ countries, is a region that has been overlooked by UK exporters for too long, despite some long-standing trade agreements with LatAm nations. However, in the last year, UK-LatAm trade has seen a double boost: firstly, its total annual value, though relatively small compared to some other global markets, grew substantially; and secondly, the UK’s accession to the CPTPP bloc is simplifying trading arrangements, potentially leading to reduced costs, lower regulatory risk, and greater synergies.

Accounting for 2-3% of UK trade, Latin America’s markets offer an important opportunity for export growth and partnership development.

Aim of the Masterclass

The masterclass aims to give delegates an overview of Latin America and its markets for UK exporters, along with practical knowledge to enable them to do business successfully there. It includes a special focus on the implications of the UK’s CPTPP membership, and the opportunities it has released.

This masterclass is suitable for company managing directors, directors, senior managers, sales managers and marketing managers.

Masterclass Objectives

Delegates will receive an overview of Latin America’s market landscape – social, digital and regulatory. As a result, they should be better placed to develop a robust strategy for collaborating with partners across the region; grow sales; avoid pitfalls; and estimate costs and incomes. Up-to-date information will be shared, with real-life illustrations from a range of sectors.

Masterclass Content

They will be better placed to develop an export strategy for growth, as well as being more prepared to avoid pitfalls, and estimate costs and incomes.

Delegates will also realise the benefits of understanding the document requirements and how to take advantage of the different Trade Agreement in place between the UK and Chile, Mexico and Peru. Delegates will also gain an understanding of how the CPTPP trade agreement could benefit them in the future, beyond the current trade agreements in place.

The workshop will provide an excellent foundation for all delegates to start, develop and grow their business with Chile, Mexico and Peru.
