From Bulawayo to Britain - Minister Visits Chamber International

18 November 2019

The Minister of State for Bulawayo visited Chamber International as part of a fact-finding mission and to pitch for investment.

Under new President Mnangagwa, the Zimbabwe Government has devolved much responsibility to the 10 regions of the country and each now has its own Minister of State for Provincial Affairs.

The Minister, Judith Ncube, led a party of delegates which included her officials and representatives of the tourism authority, the Reserve Bank of Bulawayo and the Zimbabwe Embassy in London.

They are the first regional delegation since devolution to travel to Britain to explore potential inward investment opportunities for their region.

The Minister pitched for investment into their tourism industry, focusing particularly on hotel and conference facilities. She also discussed the potential of a number of under-utilised industrial zones in the region.

The group hopes to return in 2020 to meet British businesses interested in investing in Bulawayo.

Chamber International Senior Associate, David Attia commented: " It was a privilege to welcome Minister of State Judith Ncube and the Bulawayo delegates and to host this exploratory meeting. We look forward to their return visit in 2020."
