Qatar invests for new era for trade and launches new business centre
11 August 2017
British businesses interested in doing business with Qatar are being urged to get involved now as the country invests in a new era of trade and investment following its rift with the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) over claims that it supports terrorism.
Qatar is planning a massive injection of funding for new investment and projects in the short-to-medium term to make it less reliant on its GCC neighbours after they imposed trade restrictions earlier this summer.
British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) says: “The local market has endorsed and welcomed this move and echoed the prevailing sentiment that Qatar will not forget its friends for their solidarity during this dispute.
“British companies in Qatari market now are in a very strong position. We strongly advise all UK businesses keen to trade with Qatar, or who wish to take advantage of the anticipated surge in projects and contracts, to make early contact with the BCCQ.”
As part of moves to stimulate trade with Qatar, a new British Business Centre, which will operate under the aegis of the BCCQ, has been opened with rental periods from one day to three, six, nine or 12 months.
BCCQ adds: ”The new business centre is ideally suited for British companies looking to take their first steps in the Qatar market or develop new business here.
“The centre provides a low-cost, flexible way to gain a physical presence in the market and offers full support facilities, assistance from BCCQ and our local partners, including lawyers, accountants and tax advisers, in providing a professionally-managed base to help companies win business in Qatar.
“In addition, businesses will benefit from access to wider chamber membership and our strong links with the British Embassy, Department for International Trade and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce.”
