ATA Carnets – new requirement China

China has introduced a registration process for businesses using ATA Carnets. After presenting Carnets for customs validation at airports, in the case of hand carried goods, travellers must visit a CCIPT/CCOIC office within 3 days of entry to complete the registration process.
For freight shipments the customs broker must contact CCIPT/CCOIC to carry out electronic data registration before clearing the goods through customs.
