We are International and its link to the fast-growing Brazilian market

3 August 2015

Brazil, world’s fifth largest nation and one of the BRICs economies, which also include Russia, India and China, has entered the modern era of international trade, says overseas trade specialist, Chamber International.

The Brazilian economy, like much of Latin America, is expanding impressively having overtaken the UK in global rankings in 2012 when it became the world’s sixth biggest economy worth $2.52 trillion.

Chamber International director, Tim Bailey, says: “Rising global food and oil prices are key drivers of the country’s growth as large reserves of oil and gas have been discovered off the Brazilian coast in recent years and the country has quickly established itself as the world’s ninth biggest oil producer.

“All this makes Brazil well worth exploring as Britain seeks to re-balance its economy by encouraging companies to look beyond Europe to fast-growing economies which hold British goods in high regard.

“This is demonstrated by a successful launch in Brazil by Yorkshire specialist chemicals company, Surfachem Group Ltd, which has established a successful joint venture in Sao Paulo.”

Tim Bailey says that Surfachem’s success is a good example for Yorkshire as Surfachem Group managing director, Dr Richard Smith, is a lead export ambassador in Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s We are International initiative.
